A comparison of Situation Calculus and Event Calculus

Agent based systems are a relatively new idea within artificial intelligence. Essentially an agent is a ”system situated within and a part of an environment that senses that environment and acts on it, over time, in pursuit of its own agenda and so as to effect what it senses in the future”[3]. Single agent systems have been the mainstay for a long time but in recent years multi agent systems have rapidly grown in popularity.
